Singkaban Festival 2021 ends a with virtual concert
CITY OF MALOLOS – As one of the last programs that streamed online during the weeklong celebration of Singkaban Festival 2021, The Hiyas ng Bulacan Provincial Band performed an online concert entitled “Barasoain at ang Musika ng Himagsikan” at the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium here which premiered at the Bulacan Arts and Culture Facebook page last Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
The concert featured the rhythm of Veteranos De La Revolucion, Medley of the Philippine Air, Bayan Ko and Kongreso ng Malolos conducted by Band Master Virgilio Andan and KKK Overture conducted by Asst. Band Master George Espino which were streamed by thousands of Bulakenyos.
The winners for Indakan at Awitan sa Tahanan Virtual Competition were also announced wherein winners took home cash prizes, trophies and certificates including the Dionisio Family from Bulakan town who won first place in the dancing category with P30,000 cash prize and additional P3,000 from Smart Communications, Inc. while the Perona Family from Hagonoy town landed second place with P20,000 cash prize and P2,000 from Smart Communications, Inc. and the Galano Sisters from Bocaue town who won third place with P10,000 cash prize and P2,000 cash from Smart Communications.
On the other hand, the Dionisio Siblings from Bulakan town bagged first place in the singing category and won P30,000 and P3,000 cash prize from Smart Communications, Inc. while the Soliman Family also from Bulakan town bagged second place and received P20,000 cash prize and P2,000 from Smart Communications, Inc. and third place went to Gueco Family of City of Malolos and took home P10,000 cash prize and P2,000 from Smart Communications, Inc..
Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando said on his virtual message that the Singkaban Festival spirit lives on despite having no physical celebration which gives meaning to the Singkaban theme “Paglingon. Paghilom. Pagbangon.”
“Halos dalawang taon na po nating nakasanayang walang pisikal na selebrasyon subalit hindi po nababawasan ang kahalagahan at kahulugan ng pagdiriwang ng Singkaban Festival. Taun-taon po ay lalo nating patitingkarin ang ating pagdiriwang na sumasalamin sa ating makulay na kasaysayan at pagpapakita ng hindi matatawarang galing at talento. Patuloy po nating sariwain ang mga kaganapang nagpapatatag sa atin bilang isang Bulakenyo na nakapag-ambag ng malaki sa kalayaan ng ating bansa,” the governor said.
This year is the 35th year of Singkaban Festival, which was originally called as “Linggo ng Bulacan” during the administration of late Governor Roberto Pagdanganan in 1986 until it was officially called Singkaban Festival in year 1997. ###
