Bulacan’s Singkaban Festival officially opens on September 10
CITY OF MALOLOS – The much-awaited opening of the “Mother of All Fiestas” in the province will once again capture the attention of the Bulakenyos as the Provincial Government of Bulacan opens the Singkaban Festival on September 10, 2018 in this city instead of the usual September 8, which will fall on a Saturday.
Anchored on the theme “Pamanang Kalinangan ng Nakaraan, Gabay sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan”, the formal opening of the month-long celebration is expected to be graced by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s common law wife Cielito ‘Honeylet’ Avanceña and Special Assistant to the President Secretary Bong Go.
Madame Avanceña, together with Sec. Go and local officials headed by Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, will join thousands of Bulakenyos in celebrating the colorful Singkaban Festival through a thanksgiving mass, flag raising ceremony and an opening program to be held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here.
Alvarado invited locals and tourists to come, witness and participate on the upcoming event-filled Singkaban Festival and experience the best of the province in terms of history, arts, culture, food and delicacies, and its hospitable people.
“Siksik, liglig at umaapaw sa kulay at saya ang isang buwang pagdiriwang ng Singkaban Fiesta na hindi lamang bubusog sa inyong tiyan gayundin sa inyong mga mata. Hindi lamang iyan, marami pa kayong matutuklasan sa ating dakilang lalawigan na bibighani sa inyong puso kaya’t lalo ninyong mamahalin ang ating bayang sinilangan,” the governor said.
After the opening program, municipal and city floats will fill the roads during “Parada ng Karosa”; Bulakenyo brass bands will compete with each other at “Singkaban Brass Band Competition” to be held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium at 1pm; Up Dharma Down will join their Bulakenyo fans during the “Singkaban Concert” at 6pm to be followed by “Pasiklaban sa Singkaban” at the Bulacan Sports Complex.
Also on the same day will be the opening of weeklong activities including “Tatak Singkaban ng Central Luzon” at the Eco-Commercial Complex; “Bulacan Business Conference” at The Pavilion in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center; “1st Bulacan Poultry Show” at the Old Gat Blas Ople building parking space; “Kasalan at Okasyon” at Robinsons Place Malolos; and “Bahay Kubo, Bahay Gulay” at the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office Grounds.
