Brgy Poblacion, Pulilan bags two main awards on 20th Gawad Galing Barangay

CITY OF MALOLOS- Barangay Poblacion, Pulilan’s “Poblacion, Pagbangon, at Paghilom” project won one of the five Natatanging Gawaing Pambarangay awards, while their Brgy. Captain Ryan P. Espiritu emerged as the Natatanging Punong Barangay during the Ika-20 Gawad Galing Barangay sa Gitna ng Pandemya Awarding Ceremonies held via online today.

They were also recognized as a Hall of Fame awardee for winning the Natatanging Gawaing Pambarangay for three consecutive years since 2018. They took home P100,000 cash prize and plaque of recognition, while Brgy. Captain Espiritu received P30,000 cash prize and a plaque of recognition.

The other four winners for the Natatanging Gawaing Pambarangay that were given P100,000 cash prize and plaque of recognition each include “Nagkakaisang Barangay! COVID-19 Kayang Labanan: Disiplina, Malasakit, at Bayanihan ang Nanguna” of Tibig, Bulakan who was also given the Hall of Fame award; “Malasakit sa Pagbabago, Lambakin Panalo” of Lambakin, Marilao; “Sa Panahon ng Pandemya, Walang Mahusay, Walang Magaling Basta Sama-sama nating Labanan ang COVID-19” of Tigbe, Norzagaray; and “Plano, Aksyon, at Solusyon” of Bunsuran 2nd, Pandi.

Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity and National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. said that the key on the effective implementation of best practices against COVID-19 in the province lies on the employees of the barangays and local government units.

“Ako po ay nagagalak sa napakahusay na pagtugon ng ating kapwa Bulakenyo sa pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan sa gitna ng hamon na dulot ng pandemya na ito. Sa harap ng pagsubok na ating kinakaharap ay napatunayan ninyo ang inyong husay, tapang, at dedikasyon sa inyong sinumpaang tungkulin bilang mga lingkod bayan,” Sec. Galvez said.

For his part, Governor Daniel R. Fernando congratulated and thanked all the winners and said that the one-year gap in giving the award due to the crisis brought by the pandemic made it more memorable and historical.

“Tayo pong lahat ay sinubok ng pandemyang tulad ng COVID-19 lalo na sa paglilingkod sa ating kapwa at bayan ngunit hindi po nahinto ang ating serbisyo at patuloy tayong nandyan. Mas nanaig ang tungkulin sapagkat tayo ay kinakailangang kumilos, kinakailangang gumanap sa responsibilidad, at kinakailangang mabilis ang pagresponde sa mga emerhensiya,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, Pinagkaisang Lakas ng Kababaihan of Bunsuran I, Pandi got the Natatanging Volunteer Group award and was given P30,000 cash prize and plaque of recognition; while Evangeline Bautista of Panghulo, Obando bagged the Natatanging Kagawad ng Barangay award and received P15,000 cash prize and plaque of recognition.

Other winners include Annalyn DC. Degoma of Baka-bakahan, Pandi for Natatanging Ingat-Yaman ng Barangay, Joy Alelou S. Dela Pe˜a of Pandayan, City of Meycauayan for Natatanging Kalihim ng Barangay, Edwin V. Lopez of Lumangbayan, Plaridel for Natatanging Barangay Tanod, Jan Ni˜o M. Tolentino of Agnaya, Plaridel for Natatanging Barangay Training and Employment Coordinator, Manuel C. Garcia of Parulan, Plaridel for Natatanging Barangay Health Worker, Rosemarie S. Lazaro of Sapang, San Miguel for Natatanging Mother Leader, and Vilma M. Oronce of San Miguel Calumpit for Natatanging Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon. Each winner received P10,000 cash prize and plaque of recognition. ###
