Newly elected barangay officials in Bulacan take oath of office
CITY OF MALOLOS – Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado led the simultaneous oath taking ceremony of the newly elected barangay captains and councilors of the 569 barangays in the province held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city today.
The oath taking was divided into two parts wherein officials from Districts 1 and 2 swore in the morning and were witnessed by Herminio “Bobbit” Diño from the Office of the Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs, who represented Department of the Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Martin Diño as the guest of honor, while officials from Districts 3 and 4 took their oath in the afternoon and was witnessed by the guest speaker, Department of Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
In his opening remarks, Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando gave some pieces of advice to the next barangay leaders.
Alvarado on the other hand said to the officials that they should treat their post as a sacred responsibility.
Meanwhile, Diño lauded the Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran sa Barangay project of the province of Bulacan and advise the Bulakenyos to continue the good start. He also reminded those who took their oath of service about having the purest intentions in serving the public.
Moreover, Guevarra stressed the important role of public servants in the barangays.
Also part of the program was the ceremonial distribution of Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue Hand tools by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to better prepare the barangays in times of emergencies.
All barangays will receive the same hand tools at a scheduled date once they completed the one day seminar on water flow and be knowledgeable on how to use the said tools.
