Sy-Alvarado who pledged his all out help on the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR’s) thrust and initiative to heighten the consciousness and ensure the compliance of taxpayers’ obligations.

In a message during the 2017 Tax Campaign Kick-Off ceremony of the Revenue Region No. 5 – Caloocan City dubbed as “Tunay na Pagbabago, Para sa Bayan” held at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, Monday morning, Alvarado said that BIR is the lifeblood of government operations.

He said that the machinery of government continues to operate because of proper and efficient tax collection by the bureau. The governor added that tax reform is part of President Duterte’s 10 point socio-economic agenda.

Alvarado believed that although taxes are oftentimes regarded as an ominous burden like a yoke on the shoulders of the ordinary working men, its commensurate benefit to society, direct or indirect, is immeasurable.

On his part, BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay appealed to the taxpayers to cooperate and pay correct taxes voluntarily on time for the welfare of the Filipino constituents. He also laid out BIR’s strategy to attain ease of doing business and taxpayer’s satisfaction.

“We crafted out strategies to achieve our goal which is 1.829 trillion for the year 2017. We came up with a program to review revenue regulations and we are listening to our taxpayers or stakeholders. Also, ginawa naming two days ang issuance ng certificate of registration upon compliance of documentary requirements, maximum is five days,” the commissioner of the country’s major collecting agency said.

He also reminded the taxpayers of the deadline of filing of income tax returns on April 15.
