UN’s $400 million Solar Power Plant to rise in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulakenyos will soon have the means to take advantage of the solar energy as the United Nations announced its $400 million Solar Power Plant that will be constructed in the province of Bulacan.

UN Ambassador Gion Gounet announced this good news during the commemorative celebration of the 117th Anniversary of the Inauguration of Malolos Congress, which is one of the highlights in the weeklong festivities of Singkaban Festival 2015 held at the patio of historical Barasoain Church in this city early this morning.

“Hindi ko po alam kung nakapaghanda na ang lalawigan ng isang daang ektarya na pagtatayuan ng solar power plant. Ang pagsisikap ng inyong pamahalaan ang patunay na hindi tayo nakakalimot na tumulong sa ating mga kababayan,” Gounet said.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado expressed his gratitude to the UN and said that the Provincial Government of Bulacan is currently conducting a feasibility study to find the right location for the solar power plant to be constructed.

Meanwhile, the governor encouraged the Bulakenyos as well as all the Filipinos to continue rekindling the love for the country by remembering significant events in the history particularly the revolutionary Congress of Malolos or the Philippine Constitution which played a significant role in the country’s struggle for freedom.

“Huwag nating hayaan na malimutan ng mga bagong henerasyon ang makasaysayang pangyayari na ipinanganak sa makasaysayang simbahan ng Barasoain. Patuloy nating ipahayag ang ating pagmamahal sa bansa at hindi tayo titigil sa pagwagayway ng tagumpay ng mga pangyayaring bumago sa kasaysayan ng buong bansa,” Alvarado said.

Bulacan Second District Congressman Gavini “Apol” Pancho also graced the event as the guest speaker and said that Bulacan has contributed significantly to the country’s historical and cultural heritage that continues to exhibit the Bulakenyos’ pride and honor.

Prior to this, Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando together with National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Executive Director Ludovico Badoy, Malolos Mayor Christian Natividad and other local officials led the wreath laying ceremony at the statue of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo for the latter’s contribution as the president of the First Philippine Republic.

Rotarian members from Rotary Club of Makati, city and town mayors, senior citizens, students, teachers, non-government organizations, media and other sectors in Bulacan also participated in the said celebration.

The event was made possible through the joint efforts of the Provincial Government of Bulacan, City Government of Malolos and National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
