Parangal sa Kislap ng Sining to recognize 3 Bulakenyos

CITY OF MALOLOS – A painter, a master crafter and a musician are set to be recognized by the Provincial Government of Bulacan on February 28, 2017, 2 pm at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

The ‘Parangal ng Kislap ng Sining’ will give recognition to Godofredo Reyes, a painter from Hagonoy and member of the Hagonoy Art Group; Pedro Esguerra of Pulilan, a master crafter who have shown great skills in carving decorations using a banana stem instead of singkaban; and Dr. Herminio Suarez of Balagtas, a musician of Symphonic Band, a director of the Cultural Affairs and Performing Arts of Bulacan State University and 2008 Huwarang Pilipino Awardee.

In line with the celebration of National Arts Month this February, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado invites all the Bulakenyos to witness the showcasing of different talents, performances and creativeness of many artists organized by the PGB through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office.

Dubbed as ‘Kislap ng Sining sa Bulacan’, the celebration of 2017 Arts Month was launched recently at the Bulacan Capitol Quadrangle in this city coinciding the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony.

The lined up activities include ‘Kalutong Bulakenyo – Mama Sita @100: Food Safety Seminar and Cooking Demo’ on February 17, 1 pm at PCEDO Conference Room; ‘Zumba sa Sining’ to be headed by the Bulacan Culture and Arts Council on February 22 at Guiguinto Municipal Arts and Culture Center, 8 am; and ‘Sayaw Pinoy sa Bulacan’, a program of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in the same date at 2 pm.

Among the dancers to be featured in the said Sayaw Pinoy sa Bulacan are Halili Cruz Ballet Company, Junior New System, UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe and Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe among others.

Aside from the said recognition, the much awaited ‘Konsierto ng Musikerong Bulakenyo’ is going to be held on February 28, 2 pm at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Among the bands that will perform are the Hiyas ng Bulacan Brass Band of the PGB, BulSU Symphonic Band, Fortunato Halili Brass Band of Santa Maria, Dr. Yanga Brass Band and Bocaue Youth Brass Band of Bocaue, and Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School band of Malolos City.

Meanwhile, the commemoration of the 90th Birth Anniversary of the late former senator Blas Ople and Opening of Hagonoy Art Exhibit was already held on February 3.

February of each year is declared as National Arts Month in accordance with the Presidential Proclamation No. 693 that was issued in 1991.
