Bulacan recognizes best health programs, practices through Gawad Galing sa Kalusugan
CITY OF MALOLOS — Innovative health programs and practices including Best Hospital in Public Health Program, Best LGU Health Practice and LGU Achievement for Health being conducted by the local government hospitals in the local government units were recognized by the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Gawad Galing Kalusugan 2017 held at The Pavilion in this city yesterday.
Included in the winners for Best Hospital in Public Health Program Implementation were Bulacan Medical Center’s Luntiang Silong: HIV/Aids Prevention and Control Program, Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital’s Programmatic Management of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis and Family Planning in the Hospital, Calumpit District Hospital’s Newborn Screening Program and Baliwag District Hospital’s Rabies Prevention and Control Program. They all received plaques of recognition.
For the Best LGU Health Practice, the War against Rabies towards Rabies-Free of the City of San Jose del Monte won in the Governance Category; 3-in-1 plus 1 Facility Certification/Accreditation of Balagtas won in the Regulation and Financing Category, and TB-HIV Collaborative Strategy of Hagonoy and Ugoy, Haplos, Aruga (UHA) of Plaridel both won in the Service Delivery category. They all received P10,000 each and plaques of recognition.
Moreover, GGK also awarded the LGU Achievement for Health to towns and cities that obtained high marks or reached the target in the LGU Scorecard, managing health centers and facility accreditation for quality health services.
Winners in this category were the Municipality of Baliwag (first place), Municipality of Angat (second place), and the City of San Jose Del Monte (third place) wherein they took home P30,000, P20,000 and P10,000 respectively plus plaques of recognition.
Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the winners to quality public health services and announced some good news for the Bulakenyos.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa Department of Health sa pag-a-allocate ng P70 million para sa mga pampublikong pagamutan sa lalawigan at makakaasa kayo na sa unang quarter ng 2018 wala kayong makikitang magpapaypay, ipapa-aircon na natin ang mga ward at lalagyan ng mga telebisyon,” Alvarado said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nestor Santiago Jr., Assistant Secretary for Health, Office for Field Implementation and Management, congratulated all the public health workers for giving their best to render quality public health service.
“The GGK is an embodiment of the continuous quality improvement to bring about the best in public health service. The winners are actually not the health workers but the people of Bulacan and we are hoping for more of this to come in the future,” Santiago said.
