Bulacan lanches environment month observation
CITY OF MALOLOS – With the theme Ikaw, Ako, Minamahal ang Kalikasan, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) formally launched the Environment Month observation held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium earlier today.
In line with this, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado united with the Bulakenyos called time and again the attention of the national government for the immediate repair and rehabilitation of Angat Dam.
“Angat Dam si situated on the highest spot of the mountain, pinakamataas po ito, at kung ito ay mabubugnos, lahat ng daanan po n’yan ay para kang nasagasaan ng tren, ang taas nyan. Kapag tinamaan ng lindol yan pwede ka bang magtago sa ilalim ng mesa eh tubig na rumaragasa yan faster than bullets,” Alvarado said.
Alvarado also said that he recently had a meeting with the Korean Water Corporation who will spearhead the rehabilitation of the said dam to discuss the plans and cooperation needed for the activity to push through.
“Marami silang mga plano, pero iisa lang ang sinabi ko, simulan agad ang pagpapatibay, dahil according to a scientist, the result will be unimaginable, kung ito ay mabugnos, wala ang Bulacan, wala ang Pampanga, bahagi ng Metro Manila, saan sila kukuha ng tubig na iinumin, water is life, without water there is no life,” the governor said.
Aside from this, Alvarado also stated that the bidding for the replacement of the brittle rubber check gates of Bustos Dam has already started, while the Bulacan Bulk Water bidding is currently ongoing with hope that its process will embark this coming November.
Coastal roads in the province are also under study by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) through the programs and projects of the Regional Development Council III headed by Alvarado.
