Bulacan Bags Rice Achievers Award 2019
CITY OF MALOLOS -The Province of Bulacan bagged the 2019 Rice Achievers Awards-Outstanding Province Category A during the awarding ceremony held at the Department of Agriculture (DA) Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) Convention Hall, Diliman, Quezon City yesterday.
Governor Daniel R. Fernando together with Provincial Agriculturist Ma. Gloria Carrillo and Board Member Romeo Castro, Jr. received the plaque of recognition for Rice Achievers Awards for the Province of Bulacan for its significant contributions to the rice industry.
Along with the recognition, the province also received P4 million worth of rice production related projects.
Other provinces that were conferred with 2019 Rice Achievers Awards by the DA are the provinces of Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Cagayan and Bukidnon for Provinces Category A; Zambales and Davao Del Norte for Category B and Davao Oriental for Category C.
Aside from the award as one of the top rice producers in the country, 17 Outstanding Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) including Carrillo, and two Local Farmer Technicians from the Province of Bulacan were awarded and received P20,000 each while one awardee for Small Water Irrigation Systems Associations (SWISA) took home a cash prize worth one million pesos each.
Fernando said that the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Agriculture Office has been doing a lot of appropriate interventions and provision of assistance to farmers as well as innovations in the promotion of production technologies in line with the DA’s rice production program interventions towards achieving self-sufficiency.
In his message, Fernando recognized the sacrifices of Bulakenyo farmers and fisherfolks.
He said that it is the sixth award of the province and he offers the said award to them.
The Rice Achievers Awards led by Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) is an annual event of DA that recognizes the efforts of outstanding rice-producing institutions, groups, and individuals for their contributions in the country’s food sufficiency thrust. ###
