A native of Plaridel town wins Natatanging Babae 2017

CITY OF MALOLOS – Emma Concepcion Carasig Caparas from the town of Plaridel was hailed as the Natatanging Babae 2017 in this year’s Gawad Medalyang Ginto held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city, Thursday afternoon.

Caparas took home a medal, a trophy and cash incentive amounting to P20,000.

Other winners in the sectoral category were Consolacion Dariagan of San Ildefonso for Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasan, Olivia Caling from Calumpit for Matagumpay na Ginang ng OFW sub-category, Ma. Teresa Soriano of Bustos for Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal and Geline Fajardo from City of Meycauayan as Huwarang Kabataang Babae sa Pamumuno. They all received trophies and cash incentive amounting to P10,000 each.

Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial, the event’s guest of honor, believes that women must be the partner of men in economic empowerment.

“Importante ang role ng kababaihan sa ating buhay. Sila ang unang nag-aaruga at tumitingin sa ating mga kabataan na pag-asa ng ating bayan. Importanteng makapag-aral ang mga kababaihan, importanteng mabigyan natin sila ng boses at importanteng katuwang sila sa pag-unlad ng bayan,” Sec. Ubial said.

For his part, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado lauded the bravery and dedication of the awardees and believes in the crucial yet very important role of women in the society.

“Ang medalyang ginto na ating buong-pusong igagawad sa kanila ay parangal hindi lamang sa tatanggap nito bagkus ay pagkilala sa lahat ng kababaihang Bulakenyo at pagtanaw na rin ng utang na loob sa kanilang pagmamalasakit sa ating mga mamamayan,” Alvarado said.

The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Panlalawigang Komisyon para sa Kababaihan ng Bulacan (PKKB) has been recognizing exemplary Bulakenyas through the Gawad Medalyang Ginto since 1996 in accordance with Executive Order No. 96-07: “Kautusang Nagtatakda ng Araw ng Kababaihan at Paggawad ng Medalyang Ginto sa Natatanging Kababaihan ng Bulacan” and Board Resolution No. 215 which declares the second Monday of March as Provincial Women’s Day.
