PGB recognizes 151 cleanest barangays
CITY OF MALOLOS – The efforts of the smallest unit of the government to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of their respective localities paid off as the Provincial Government of Bulacan recognized 151 cleanest barangays in the “Manila Bay-anihan cum 2017 Gawad Parangal Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran (KKK) sa Barangay Awarding Ceremony” held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city yesterday.
Awarded barangays were graded according to their cleanliness which is 50% of the overall criteria- 15% for clean roads and sidewalks; another 15% for the clean canal and rivers, well-maintained drainage and sewage system; and 20% for systematic and effective garbage collection, while another 50% percent for their orderliness-15% for the absence of eyesores such as old streamers, advertisement or election posters, dilapidated structures and construction debris; another 15% for having place for trees, mangrove and vegetable planting; and 20% for a clean barangay hall with systematic record and data keeping.
All awardees were given certificates of recognition and P20,000 for first placers, P15,000 for second placers and P10,000 for the third placers.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado appreciated the support of the barangays on the projects of the Provincial Government especially the KKK sa Barangay.
“Batid namin ang makabuluhang kontribusyon ng bawat pamahalaang barangay sa pagtataguyod ng dakilang adhikain natin para sa ating kapaligiran na isang napakahalagang pamana natin sa mga susunod na henerasyon. Dahil sa inyong pagsuporta sa programang ito, patuloy ang ating pamahalaan sa pagpapanatili ng isang malinis at maayos na lalawigan na isa sa mga mahahalagang adhikaing nais kong makamit ng ating lalawigan,” the governor said.
Prior to the awarding ceremony, the Department of Interior and Local Government – Bulacan headed by Provincial Director Darwin D. David grabbed the chance to present and discuss to the awardees the Manila Bay-anihan project, an execution of the Supreme Court mandamus to clean up, rehabilitate and preserve Manila Bay.
It was in 2014 when the PGB through the Provincial Administrator’s Office launched the KKK sa Barangay project which aims to protect the environment and maintain and ensure the cleanliness and orderliness in the community.
