Hagonoy town’s Hiyas ng Hagonoy Folkloric Group wins in Indakan sa Kalye 2018

INDAKAN SA KALYE 2018 CHAMPION. “Indakan sa Kalye” first placer winner Hiyas ng Hagonoy Folkloric Group of Hagonoy, Bulacan dance gracefully depicting “Desposorio Festival” of the town of Hagonoy during the street dancing held in front of the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, City of Malolos, Bulacan yesterday.

CITY OF MALOLOS – The town of Hagonoy bagged the first place in the Showdown Competition of “Indakan sa Kalye 2018” yesterday, September 19, 2018 at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

The Hiyas ng Hagonoy Folkloric Group reigned supreme out of the 12 groups of dancers that participated in the competition wherein their talents and dancing skills in dancing ‘Desposorio’ stood out while wearing their colorful costumes and props.

They took home P100,000 cash incentive and trophy as the champion of the competition and also won the Best in Costume and received additional P5,000 cash prize and trophy.

The Guiguinto National Vocational High School of the town of Guiguinto, which showcased the ‘Halamanan Festival’ landed the second spot and received P70,000 and trophy while the Bulacan Agricultural State College of San Ildefonso won third place for their ‘Bulak Festival’ and received P40,000 cash prize and trophy.

Meanwhile, Dampol 2nd National High School of the town of Pulilan was awarded as the Best in Street Dancing for their ‘Carabao Festival’ and received P5,000 and trophy.

Also, the FCPC Balikatanaw Performing Arts of the City of San Jose Del Monte, Iba National High School of Hagonoy and Dr. Felipe De Jesus National High School of Plaridel each received P10,000 consolation prize and trophy.

According to the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO), organizer of the event, Indakan sa Kalye featured the local festivities, history, arts and culture and traditions that depicts Filipino culture.

It is open to all towns and cities of the province, which will be represented by street dancers from their communities, schools, and colleges or universities who will officially embody their local festival.

Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado thanked all those who supported the Indakan sa Kalye, which was part of Singkaban Festival 2018 that shows the rich culture and tradition of the Province of Bulacan.
