Bulacan turns over cash, food packs to typhoon-hit Albay
CITY OF MALOLOS- A total of P669,285 and 1,300 packs of relief goods were donated by the Provincial Government of Bulacan to the Provincial Government of Albay through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) during the turn over ceremony held at the New NDRRMC Building, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City this morning.
Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad of NDRRMC received the ceremonial cheques worth P500,000 from the Provincial Government of Bulacan and worth P169,285 collected from the donation drive dubbed as “Tulong Bulakenyo para sa Nasalanta ng Bagyo” from November 9, 2020 to January 11, 2021; food packs containing four kilos of rice, five assorted canned goods, and four assorted items such as noodles, cereals and coffee; 11 packs of new jackets; 395 boxes of 500ml distilled water; 31 boxes and two sacks of 350ml water; and 41 gallons of 7-liter distilled water.
Despite being affected, too, by the past typhoons, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Chairman and Governor Daniel R. Fernando said that the ‘bayanihan’ spirit of the Bulakenyos are burning for their fellow Filipinos.
“Ito pong mga tulong na inihatid natin sa ating mga kababayan sa Albay ay hindi mula lamang sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan. Ito po ay pinagsama-samang tulong ng mga Bulakenyo na nagmamalasakit sa ating mga kapatid sa Albay. Tanggapin ninyo po ito kalakip ang aming mga panalangin na sama-sama tayong babangon mula sa unos na pinagdaan at patuloy nating pinagdadaanan sa ngayon,” the governor said.
He also thanked Bulakenyo individuals, groups and associations who selflessly donated in spite of their individual struggles and needs due to the ongoing pandemic.
Fernando added that the PGB is currently coordinating with the Provincial Government of Catanduanes on how to deliver the same amount of help for their constituents.
The PGB team who delivered the donation to the NDRRMC was led by Board Member Alexis Castro, PDRRMO Head Felicisima Mungcal, and PGB staff from the PDRRMO, Provincial Treasurer’s Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Public Affairs Office, and Provincial General Services Office. ###
