DuHaWis- Gerilya: Dugong Bayani banners 5th SINEliksik Bulacan Docufest
CITY OF MALOLOS– The documentary “DuHaWis- Gerilya: Dugong Bayani” won Best Documentary and Best Editing and took home trophies and P120,000 during the 5th SINEliksik Bulacan Docufest Gabi ng Parangal held at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, Tuesday night.
The winning film by CHACTC Productions and MRG Films, and directed and written by Ronaldo N. Dionisio focuses on the heroism of the Meycaueño especially the leaders of the Guerilla during the World War II.
“Pasasalamat sa ating lalawigan sapagkat mayroong ganitong patimpalak na umani na ng pagkilala sa buong Pilipinas. Tayo lamang ang probinsya na may ganitong pagpapahalaga sa sining, kultura, at kasaysayan ng ating dakilang lalawigan ng Bulacan,” the director said during his acceptance speech.
Likewise, Department of National Defense Secretary Atty. Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. represented by Assistant Secretary for Strategic Assessment and International Affairs Pablo M. Lorenzo honored the people who initiated, organized, joined, and participated in the contest that showed the real stories during the second World War.
“Nawa ay maging simula ito ng ating pagtutulungan na panatilihing buhay sa gunita ng lipunan ang kabayanihan ng ating mga beterano,” Lorenzo said.
Meanwhile, Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro said that history is the soul of being a Filipino and it should not be forgotten.
“Nais natin na maimulat ang ating bagong henerasyon na ang ating matamis na ginhawa at kalayaan ay nagmula sa marahas na nakaraan,” Castro said.
Other winners for the Senior Category include “Padoc” which earned the Special Jury Prize, Best Cinematography and Best Trailer and went home with P75,000; “Sa Dagat at Bundok” that won Best Research and Best Poster and was given P35,000; “Sa Dulo ng Bayoneta” got the Best Documentary Script award and received P20,000; “Gunita ng Dapit Hapon” obtained an Honorable Mention and P20,000; “Panaghoy: Mga Piping Sigaw sa Bahay na Pula” got the Special Citation for Gender Sensitivity and Visual Documentary Project and P10,000; and “Ang Mamatay ng Dahil sa Iyo” was voted to get the Audience Choice Award and earned P5,000.
On the other hand, recognitions for the Junior Category include “Bahawin: Lunas sa Gitna ng Giyera” who went home with 1st place and P50,000; “Dapit-Hapon: Pisara” received the 2nd place, Best Trailer, and Audience Choice Award with P40,000 in total; “Impiong” got the 3rd prize and P20,000; and “Doyen” won the Best Poster and P5,000. ###
