PGB holds victory party for the CLRAA overall champs

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Province of Bulacan celebrated the triumph of the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) overall champions through a gathering dubbed as “2018 CLRAA Meet Victory Party” initiated by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando held at The Hiyas Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, Monday morning.

It started with a Holy Mass and followed by socials where the athletes enjoyed some performances while indulging in a wide variety of food and drinks.

During the program, Board Member Emilita Viceo, chairman of the Youth and Sports Development Committee, shared the good news about the proposal of Cong. Lucy Torres and Senator Manuel “Manny” Pacquiao to institutionalize the Philippine National games so that anyone, even though enrolled in a formal school, can showcase his talent in sports and join the competitions.

Also, Provincial, Youth Sports, Public Employment Service Office Head Elizabeth Alonzo clarified that Bulacan has already won the overall championship 27 times as opposed to the earlier announcement of 17 times.

“Hanggang ngayon po ay hindi talagang tunay na matuos kung ilan taon na po talaga tayong nagcha-champion. Ako po ay 40 years na in service, naka-limang gobernador po ako. Sa computation ko, one year lang po naagaw sa atin ang CLRAA eh during the time of Gov. Obet. Kung bibilangin ko at kung ‘di po ako nagkamali, with the permission of Dr. Alip, andito naman si Ma’am Estinos parang 27 years na tayo na nagchampion sa CLRAA,” Alonzo explained.
Bulacan Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Romeo M. Alip agreed on the pronouncement of Alonzo and gave the athletes and trainers some inspiring words.

“Sana you will be the ambassadors of goodwill pagdating natin sa Ilocos Sur. Sana dalin natin ang ugaling Bulakenyo, matapat, magaling at higit sa lahat mabuting atleta. Sa mga coach at trainer, these athletes became champion because of you. Tulad po ng sinabi ni Gob. Alvarado, lalaban tayong dala ang pangalan ng ating lalawigan, nagkakaisa,” Alip said.

The CLRAA winners will represent Bulacan in the Palarong Pambansa 2018 to be held in Vigan City in April.
