Fernando reveals plan to request for additional water reservoir in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS- Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando reveals his plan to seek for the help of the Congress in creating a bill to build an additional water reservoir in the province to aid the farmers’ need for irrigation water during the “Distribution of Farm Equipment and Marine Engine” held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city yesterday.

According to the provincial chief executive, it’s been three years now that some of the Bulacan farmers from the north and south districts were cut off from irrigation water due to the low water level of Angat Dam.

“Matagal na itong isinisigaw ng Provincial Government ang dagdag na dam. Additional na imbakan ng tubig, na ang tubig ay manggagaling sa itaas. Kinakailangan na saluhin na natin ang mga tubig na nanggagaling sa ulan,” the governor said.

The governor tasked the Provincial Agriculture Office, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Provincial Planning and Development Office, and the Provincial Legal Office to draft a request letter to be submitted to the Congress.

He also said that he was able to relay the said plan to Department of Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar during the latter’s visit in the province and the secretary told him that it was congruent to their department’s harvesting of rain water program.

In addition, Fernando announced the soon-to-rise Farmers Training School with dormitory for the Bulakenyo farmers that will give them additional knowledge on the latest farming technologies.

Meanwhile, during the distribution of farm equipment and marine engine, 20 Farmers Cooperative and Association (FCA) each received two units of Knapsack Sprayer while five FCAs took home 50 pieces of plastic crates, each from the DA Regional Office 3.

Also, the Provincial Government of Bulacan distributed 21 units of engine and pump and eight units of marine engine to deserving FCAs. ###
