Fernando begins relief operations to typhoon-stricken Bulakenyos

CITY OF MALOLOS – Governor Daniel R. Fernando started personally delivering relief goods to Bulakenyos affected by Typhoon Carina enhanced by the Southwest Monsoon yesterday.

A total of 718 individuals or 199 families from Barangays Malis, Ilang-Ilang, Tuktukan, Sta. Rita, Tiaong, and Sta. Cruz in Guiguinto initially received relief goods from the Provincial Government of Bulacan led by Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro.

He also delivered aid to Brgys. Pandayan and Calvario in the City of Meycauayan and Brgy. Pio Cruzcosa in Calumpit.

“Ang mahalaga po ngayon ay mabigyan natin ng pagkain ‘yung mga nasa evacuation center at ibang mga nasa bahay pa na may tubig. Humingi na po tayo ng assistance sa DSWD para sa food packs, at gayundin, and Provincial Government ay magbibigay tayo ng sa iba’t ibang bayan at siyudad lalawigan,” the governor and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Chairman said during their meeting yesterday.

According to the latest data of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) as of 8:00 am of July 26, 185 barangays from the three cities and 12 municipalities are still affected with one to five feet of flood water, and 29,938 persons or 10,024 families took temporary shelters on various evacuation areas all over the province.

Meanwhile, all major roads in Bulacan are passable but motorists are still advised to take precautionary measures in traversing minor and inner roads due to flooding in portions of the province.

Due to the onslaught of the typhoon, the whole province reported an estimated cost of damage of P789 million in infrastructure; P81,200,649.69 in agriculture and fisheries; and P955,100 in livestock and poultry. ###
