CLRAA Meet 2016 opens in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS – Some 10,000 athletes will flock the Bulacan Sports Complex in this city as the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Luzon formally opens the 2016 Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet on February 7-12, 2016.

Together with the DepEd Schools Division Office (SDO) of Bulacan as host, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the Provincial Government of Bulacan ensures the orderliness and safety of the delegates during their stay in the province.

Anchored on the theme, “Developing Strong Character Through Sports”, the said sports event aims to inculcate discipline, teamwork and excellence; to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among the athletes in 18 schools divisions in the region and to select athletes who will represent the region in 2016 Palarong Pambansa.

Senator Teofisto “TG” Guingona III will grace the opening ceremonies on February 7 as the guest speaker which will start through a parade at the Bulacan Sports Complex at 2pm followed by a short program.

Later in the evening at 6pm, a Governor’s Night will be held at Hiyas Pavilion in this city where DepEd Regional Dir. Malcolm Garma, CESO V, will be the guest of honor.

The game proper will start on February 8-12 at the 15 assigned playing venues which include Balagtas Central School, Balagtas Gym, Boying’s Billiard Hall, Bulacan Sports Complex, Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, Bulacan State University Activity Center, Calumpit Central School, City Walk, CMIS Sto. Rosario, Guiguinto Municipal Athletic and Cultural Center, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School Gym, Norzagaray Central School, Philippine Sports Stadium and Richwell College in Plaridel.

Events include Archery, Amis, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Chess, Football, Gymnastics, Sepak Takraw, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Special Olympics. Billiard, Futsal and Sepak Takraw-Girls shall be demonstration sports.

The Regional Athletic Association (RAA) is chaired by the Regional Director, together with the Governor of the Province of Bulacan as honorary chairman.

The 18 participating schools divisions include Angeles City, Aurora, Balanga City, Bataan, Bulacan, Cabanatuan City, Gapan City, Mabalacat City, Malolos City, Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija, Olongapo City, Pampanga, City of San Fernando, San Jose City, Tarlac City, Tarlac, and Zambales.
