CITY OF MALOLOS – Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado led hundreds of Bulakenyos in commemorating the 117th celebration of the National Flag Day held in front of the Capitol Building earlier today by honoring its significance and contribution in the Philippine history.

The governor also said that although the Philippine flag is positioned wherein the color blue which signifies peace is on top, everyone must always be prepared in case there is a need to reverse it so as to put the color red on top.

Cong. Roman Romulo of the Lone District of Pasig City, the guest speaker, said that today everyone is in search of a new hero that will serve as an inspiration.

Romulo, who is also the chairperson of the Commission on Higher and Technical Education, announced that two of the bills that he authored have already been passed by the congress and the senate.

The first law, the Iskolar ng Bayan Law states that top 10 graduates from public high schools will automatically be scholars in state universities and colleges of their choice.

The second law which is the Unifast Law or the Unified Financial Assistance for Students in Tertiary or College Education states that all government funds for scholarship will be centralized in one agency in order to help aspiring high school graduates reach the tertiary level.

Prior to this, Mr. Luis Tecson, grandson of the late hero Col. Simon Tecson led the oath to the national flag and wreathe laying ceremony was held at the Marcelo H. del Pilar shrine.
