Bulacan to honor outstanding Bulakenyas

CITY OF MALOLOS – Exceptional and outstanding Bulakenyas will once again be recognized as the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Gawad Medalyang Ginto is set to celebrate remarkable women’s achievements on March 9, 2015 at the Hiyas Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in line with the observance of National Women’s Month.

With the theme “Bulakenya Napapanahon Ka, HANGA Ako Sa Iyo,” the celebration aims to pay tribute to the strong and resilient women in different fields who continue to inspire and encourage younger generation of women to be an advocate of gender equality and women empowerment.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that it is necessary nowadays to acknowledge the contribution of women because they have become more powerful and bold in expressing their opinions that serves as a reminder that women contribute to the nation’s progress.

“Marapat lamang na ating kilalanin at bigyang pagpapahalaga ang kontribusyon ng ating mga kababaihan dahil sila ang ating mga ilaw sa tahanan. Sa panahon ngayon, sila ang may malaking ambag sa ating pag-unlad at hindi natin mapagkakaila na ang mga gawain ng kalalakihan ay kanila ring maayos at higit na naisasakatuparan. Marapat lang na kilalanin natin at maipadama ang halaga ng mga babae sa ating buhay ,” Alvarado said.

According to Panlalawigang Komisyon para sa mga Kababaihan ng Bulacan (PKKB), two outstanding women will be awarded with Medalyang Ginto Award who will receive trophies and cash incentive worth P20,000 while the Natatanging Samahang Pangkababaihan will also receive trophy and cash incentive worth P30,000.

PKKB will also honor women who excel in their chosen careers under the category of Sectoral Award which include Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal, Matagumpay na Ginang ng OFW, Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasan, Huwarang Kabataang Babae sa Pamumuno, and Matagumpay na Konsehong Pambayan para sa Kababaihan.

The celebration of Women’s Month and Gawad Medalyang Ginto in Bulacan started in 1996 in accordance with Executive Order No. 96-07 and has already awarded 99 Bulakenyas.
