Bulacan ranks number 1 in Region 3 for most number of accredited child development workers

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Province of Bulacan maintained its number one ranking in Region 3 as the province with the highest number of active certificate of accreditation for child development workers, which is 88.41% while 85.63% of child development centers are also accredited to ensure standards in teaching early grades.

This was announced by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 3 Regional Director Gemma B. Gabuya during the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance Awarding Ceremony held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here wherein two Bulacan cities and 16 municipalities were conferred with the award including the Cities of Meycauayan and Malolos and the municipalities of Bulakan, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Paombong, Pulilan, Balagtas, Guiguinto, Pandi, Plaridel, Baliwag, Angat, Doña Remedios Trinidad, San Ildefonso, Santa Maria, Obando and Marilao.

The awardees received mega boxes containing learning materials, manipulative toys and musical instruments from the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

Regional Director Gabuya congratulated the day care and child development workers and thanked them for providing Bulakenyo children with quality programs and services.

“Ang mga bata ang ating strategic resource. Sila ang ating next generation at sasalo ng lahat ng ating ginagawa ngayon. So lahat ng mga efforts natin, physically, emotionally and psychologically ay towards sa normal growth and development of our children,” Gabuya said.

Also, Council for the Welfare of Children Deputy Executive Director Atty. Marijoy Segui challenged the awardees to achieve the 100 percent child-friendly province.

“Ating isapuso at isaisip ang ating mga minimithi na child-friendly at child-sensitive society where every child fully enjoys his or her rights at pagtataguyod ng isang child-friendly Philippines na caring and protective for, by, and with the children,” Segui said.
Meanwhile, Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado highlighted the importance of early education for the child.

“Sinisimulan po natin sa murang edad, sinasabi ng siyensya na ang 80% ng kabuuan ng kaisipan ng isang bata at ang physical development of a child ay nabubuo sa edad isa hanggang anim na taon, kaya napakahalaga po ng early at preparatory education na nakukuha po natin,” the governor said.

The Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance is a system of recognizing local government units that delivers positive result for the welfare of children. It started auditing all cities and municipalities last 2014.
