CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado together with Vice Governor Daniel R. Fernando inaugurated the reconstructed 25 linear meters long bridge in Brgy. Dulong Bayan in the City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan yesterday.

The said bridge is worth P29,870,112.50 and will benefit commuters and motorists going to Brgy. Poblacion, making the travel time shorter as compared to when the bridge was not yet passable.

Alvarado reminded the San Joseños to take care of the said bridge so that the next generation can benefit from it as well.

“Noong panahong ginawa ito noong 1970, wala pang retrofitting technology kaya kahit na 70 years ang life span ng tulay na ito, talagang kapapalitan na, at ang dumadaan dito’y mabibigat. This time, matibay po ito at aabutin ito ng more than 70 years,” the governor added.

Fernando also agreed with Alvarado and emphasized that the bridge is a contributing factor to the success of the city and the province.

According to Engr. Glenn Reyes, head of the Provincial Engineer’s Office, the 49-year old bridge was closed for a year and was reconstructed in five months’ time.

As for Daisy Tongol, a resident of CSJDM, now that the bridge is open, everything will be back to normal for them.

“Madali na kasing lumabas-pasok samin ngayon dito, hindi na iikot pa ng malayo, wala ng hassle kasi ‘di na kakain ng maraming oras,” Tongol said.

The same is true for Emma Sanz, also a resident of CSJDM, and expressed her gratitude to the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

“Nagpapasalamat kami at malaking kaginhawahan ito sa amin, wala ng masisirang sasakyan kasi sa hirap ng iniikot ng mga sasakyan talagang masisira, wala ng magrereklamo, kasi ito ang pinakamadaling daan,” Sanz said.

The bridge was blessed by Rev. Fr. Arvin Rey Jimenez and was immediately opened for passage after the inauguration.
