Bulacan gov commends Gawad Kalinga on 5th Global Social Business Summit

CITY OF MALOLOS – Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado praised the success of the Gawad Kalinga (GK) on converging various nationalities and professionals to build an inclusive community during the Governor’s Night of the 5th Global Business Summit held at the GK Enchanted Farm at Brgy. Encanto, Angat last Friday.

In his speech delivered by Provincial Administrator Eugenio Payongayong, Alvarado commended Mr. Tony Meloto, GK’s founder, and all the men and women behind GK for endowing the underprivileged with the vision to dream and empowering them with the opportunity to pursue the dream.

“Enchanted Farm has not only become a haven for economic enterprise, but more importantly, a beacon of hope for millions of people to chase their dreams and uplift their lives through determination and positive action,” the governor said.

He also said that the province of Bulacan takes great pride in the establishment of Enchanted Farm in Bulacan and regard it as a great testament to the indubitable spirit Filipinos possess.

“It is with utmost honor and conviction that we declare that poverty holds no more power to deter our passionate desire to effect genuine social change; that humanity can once and for all end poverty through earnest, zealous and concerted efforts of passionate people fervently laboring to alleviate the sad quandary of the underprivileged and the hopeless, and emancipate them from the bondage of poverty,” the governor added.

The 5th Global Social Business Summit which is anchored on the theme “Scaling Towards Social Progress” aims to create a strong base for social entrepreneurs in the emerging economies of Asia.

It is attended by more or less 600 participants, such as heads of local and international corporations, universities and foundations from more than 24 countries particularly France, United States, Malaysia and Singapore.
