BENRO rescues juvenile PH Scops owl

RESCUED PH SCOPS OWL. Eliza Bazco, a concerned citizen from Sitio Manggahan, Brgy. Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria, Bulacan, turns over the juvenile Philippine Scops owl to Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office Watchmen namely Edgardo Martillano, Angelie Mae Marcelo and Beam Jospeh Arada yesterday.

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) rescued a juvenile Philippine Scops owl in Sitio Manggahan, Brgy. Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria, Bulacan after receiving a call yesterday from Eliza Bazco, a concerned citizen.

The Scops owl is approximately six inches tall and 700 grams in weight.

According to BENRO Department Head Atty. Julius Victor C. Degala, the rescued Scops owl is considered to be an endemic species in the Philippines.

Degala encourages the public to report this type of wildlife capture to the authorities immediately.

The owl was then immediately turned over to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Guiguinto, Bulacan. ###
