Bulacan, intensify more its disaster preparedness
CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) intensify its disaster preparedness to all the City/ Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils in the province.
In a quarterly meeting held yesterday, June 2, 2015 at Isidoro Torres Hall, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city, PDRRMO Head Felicisima Mungcal said her department would continue to monitor hazards and provide appropriate warning, as well as to look after the need to stimulate hazards and effects for appropriate preparedness, response and development plans.
Aniya, mahalaga na epektibong maipaabot ang hazards at posibleng impact ng mga kalamidad kung kaya nagtipun-tipon ang DRRMC ng 21 bayan at talong lungsod, mga responder sa iba’t ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno, at NGOs upang sistematikong harapin ang anumang krisis o kalamidad na tatama sa lalawigan.
She said that any hazard and possible impacts of the disaster must be effectively communicated in this meeting where the 21 towns and three cities disaster council or managers, responders of the different agencies and non-government agencies were gathered for a discussion for a systematic way to respond properly before, during and after hazardous events.
The Provincial Planning and Development Office presented the Valley Fault System in Bulacan based on VFS Atlas released by Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) last April and came up with an action for a additional and clearance of an information from PHILVOCS regarding fault line that run in three areas in the province such as CSJDM, Norzagaray and DRT.
Also, the Bulakenyo headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado called the attention of the concerned people to immediately help the K-water in making the structural integrity of Angat Dam safe for the next 50 to 100 years.
Meanwhile, the DILG discussed the Operation Listo WEmboree: A disaster resiliency camp, a program for the gathering of young people from different communities, academic institutions and organizations celebrating one goal in “Changing the Mindset from ME to WE”. It also encourages young people to come together, actively engage and inspire their peers and their respective communities to unite and become prime movers in nation building.
Mungcal also presented the department’s accomplishment for the previous quarter of the present year such as Weather Outlook 2015, Fire Prevention Month, Lakbay Alalay (SUMVAC), Oplan Listo, Contingency Plan update, LDRRM Fund Investment Revision, and preparation for rainy season and drought or dry spell.
