Bulacan commemorates Ople Day

CITY OF MALOLOS – Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado will lead the Bulakenyos to mark the commemoration of the 88th Birth Anniversary of Gat Blas F. Ople on February 3, 2015, 8:00 o’clock in the morning at the Gusaling Gat Blas Ople, Capitol Compound in this city.

To give honor for the selfless, dedicated and sincere service to the country and outstanding contribution in history of the great legislator and writer Ka Blas, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office prepared a short program.

“Si Ople na kilala rin bilang si Ka Blas, may akda ng Philippine Labor Code at “Father of Overseas Employment” ay isa sa mga dakilang anak ng Bulacan kung saan ang pamumuno at karunungan ay karapat-dapat na tularan”, Alvarado said.

The program will start with a wreath laying ceremony at the Ople’s monument wherein Alvarado will be joined by other officials and the family of Ka Blas.

This will be followed by the guest speaker’s message and some special numbers.

One of the highlights of the second part of the program is the ceremontial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Bulacan Laban sa Human Trafficking Movement through the effort of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute.

Moreover, there will be distribution of checks for the beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Livelihood Program and Special Program for Employment of Studies (SPES).

A symposium entitled “Sinimulan ni Ka Blas, Hindi Magwawakas”: Symposium on gat Blas Ople’s Life, Works and Legacy will also be held at the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium wherein more or less 100 students and teachers are expected to attend.

A video presentation about Ka Blas and the Blas Ople Center will also be shown wherein his daughter Susan “Toots” Ople, president of Blas F. Ople Policy Center, will be the guest speaker.

Also, the grand daughter of Ka Blas, Estelle Ople-Osorio will give her speech.

Meanwhile, in accordance with Proclamation No. 948, February 3, 2015 was declared as a special (non working day) in the Province of Bulacan to celebrate the birth anniversary of Gat Blas F. Ople, the son of Bulacan who has been a model to the Filipino people especially to the Bulakenyos.
