Bulacan recognized as Blood Champ in CL’s 1st blood program implementers awards

BLOOD CHAMP ON EFFECTIVE BLOOD PROGRAMS. Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado who was hailed as the Most Supportive and Active Governor receives the plaque of recognition from the Department of Health III together with Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando for the province’s dedicated efforts and effective implementation of blood programs during the Central Luzon’s 1st Recognition for Outstanding Blood Program Implementers and Stakeholders held at Holiday Inn, Clark Freeport, Pampanga, yesterday morning.

CITY OF MALOLOS – Best practices and exemplary innovations on blood programs implementation have placed the Province of Bulacan to be one of the Most Outstanding Provinces in Central Luzon that continuously encourages blood donation as a way of life for every qualified healthy Filipino during the 1st Recognition for Outstanding Blood Program Implementers and Stakeholders held at Holiday Inn, Clark Freeport, Pampanga, yesterday morning.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado personally received the awards in different categories including the recognitions for Home of Galloners with 125 registered blood galloners, Province with Most Number of Mobile Blood Donation as well as the recognition for being the Most Supportive and Active Governor due to his dedicated efforts in supporting the blood services program implementation for his constituents.

“We have always been supportive to the objectives of the Department of Health (DOH) in ensuring that everyone has access to safe and adequate blood all the time. It is a great honor for the province to be recognized and we will continue to serve quality health care and services,” the governor said.
Alvarado also said that the province was recognized as one of the Lead Blood Services Facility in Region III and for almost 12 years operations of the blood programs in Bulacan, all efforts have gained momentum in advocacy for blood donor recruitment and mobile blood donations.

“Ilan lamang po ang mga ito sa mga tagumpay ng lalawigan ng Bulacan. Kaya naman aking pinasasalamatan ang lahat ng katuwang ng iyong lingkod sa pagbibigay ng ekselenteng serbisyo sa ating mga mamamayan,” Alvarado said.
Prior to this, DOH III Regional Voluntary Blood Service Program Council said that Bulacan has always been active in supporting the Blood Donation Program that promotes voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe blood and to regulate blood banks to aid the people that urgently needed blood transfusion.

Bulacan as the Home of Sandugo Awardees was also commended for its effective distribution of blood and blood products to hospitals and other health facilities, its functions to cover advocacy, quality assurance program, monitoring rational and efficient use of blood products, financial management and regional blood program coordination.

The province also received the award for Best Practices and Innovation on Voluntary Blood Services Program Implementation while the Provincial Blood Center was acknowledged as Outstanding Blood Service Facility with most number of collected blood units during mobile blood donations.

The first ever awarding aims to recognize the efforts of all stakeholders, donor and galloners from provincial, municipal and barangay level in their untiring dedication to support the blood programs initiated by the Department of Health.
