Bulacan conducts weeklong activities for Labor Day amidst pandemic

CITY OF MALOLOS – There is no stopping Provincial Government of Bulacan as it went from the usual one-day celebration of Labor Day to one week of jampacked activities amidst the current pandemic.

With the theme Manggagawang Bulakenyo at PESO: “Kapitbisig para sa Trabaho, Kabuhayan at Negosyo”, the Provincial Youth, Sports, and Public Employment Service Office (PYSPESO) has lined up activities from April 26 to May 1 that expanded the opportunities of Bulakenyos in landing on good, decent jobs.

Additional trainings were also conducted for those who want to develop their businesses and become abreast with the latest in medium, small and micro enterprises. Furthermore, the activities also aim to grant emergency employment for Bulakenyos who were badly affected by the pandemic and to guide the senior high school students in choosing their courses to pave the way for their future careers.

Included in the activities were Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Livelihood Project Distribution-PESO Marilao on April 26 with 100 beneficiaries of rice and retailing of groceries worth P5,000; Sexual Harassment for Government Internship Program (GIP) and Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries via Zoom-PESO Baliwag on April 27 with 2,400 views on Facebook Live; Negosyo at Kabuhayan Fair on Basic Food Processing via Zoom and Facebook Live on April 28 and 29, Pre-employment Orientation Webinar via Zoom and Facebook Live-PESO Baliwag on April 28 with 4,000 views; Provincial Launch of Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) and Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) for Grade 12 students via Zoom and Facebook Live on April 30 with 14,000 views; Simultaneous TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Orientation from April 26-30 with 609 beneficiaries.

On May 1, DOLE Regional Office III held a Labor Day Online Job Fair dubbed as 2021 Labor Day: Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Fair wherein a total of 758 jobseekers registered as applicants.

Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando expressed his gratitude to all concerned offices and agencies who cooperated and gave their undivided attention to successfully implement the activities.

“Alam ko pong malaki ang kinuha sa atin ng pandemya, maraming hanapbuhay at kabuhayan ang pinatay kaya naman sana po ay nakatulong itong mga programang ibinaba namin sa inyo, at unti-unti po, bumangon tayong magkakasama,” Fernando said. ###
