10 barangays in Bulacan to hold simultaneous cleanup drive against dengue
CITY OF MALOLOS- The Provincial Health Office-Public Health (PHO-PH) and Provincial Administrator’s Office will lead the simultaneous clean-up drive in 10 barangays in Bulacan on June 30, 2017 as part of the intensified anti-dengue campaign of the Provincial Government of Bulacan.
The ten barangays with the highest dengue cases that the said offices will have its cleanup activities include Sta. Rita Bata, Pulong Bayabas, Biclat and Tigpalas in San Miguel; Pinagbakahan (City of Malolos); Santa Barbara (Baliwag); Sta. Monica (Hagonoy); Kaypian (San Jose Del Monte City); Buhol na Mangga and Bubulong Munti (San Ildefonso).
Prior to this activity, ABKD or Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue Consultative Meeting will be held in line with the ASEAN Dengue Day celebration on June 16 at 2 pm at the Isidoro Torres Hall, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this City.
With the theme, “Search and destroy mosquito breeding places and Seek early consultation”, the program includes reporting on the Provincial Dengue Situation, discussion on Kalinisan at Kaayusan ng Kapaligiran (KKK) in the Barangay, a clean and green program of the PGB, Plan of Action for the ASEAN Dengue Day celebration and Ceremonial Sack Distribution.
According to Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, the said undertaking is part of the Executive Order No. 2012-10 that he signed, enjoining all Bulakenyos to participate and support the celebration of the ASEAN Dengue Day every June 15 as declared by the ASEAN Health Ministers.
Meanwhile, Alvarado has reminded again the Bulakenyos to clean their houses as well as their environment to prevent Dengue and other diseases caused by unclean surroundings.
“Sinuman ay pwedeng maging biktima ng Dengue subalit ito ay maaari din namang maiwasan sa pamamagitan ng pagsunod sa tinaguriang 4S Strategies against Dengue na Search and destroy of breeding sites, Seek early consultation, Self-protection measures and Say NO to indiscriminate fogging”, Alvarado said.
He also urges a united effort of the community with regard to massive cleanup operations and continuous public awareness about the said deadly disease.
Based on the Provincial PHO Epidemiology Surveillance Unit record, there are 1,365 recorded dengue cases from January 1 to June 3, 2017 with six mortalities.
