Bulacan receives Best Performing LGU in Cooperative Development Award

CITY OF MALOLOS – With its leading programs and dedication to provincial enterprises, the Provincial Government of Bulacan, through the Provincial Cooperative and Economic Development Office (PCEDO) was hailed as the Best Performing LGU in Cooperative Development during the National Gawad Parangal of the Cooperative Development Authority last October 24, 2018 at Novotel Hotel, Quezon City.

Aside from being the champion for provincial category, Bulacan also showed good performance in cooperative development as Bagong Barrio Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Pandi, Bulacan bagged 1st place – Most Outstanding Primary Cooperative for Large Category. In addition, San Jose Del Monte Credit and Development Cooperative was awarded 3rd place for the same title.

Meanwhile, the Marilao Cooperative Office from Marilao, Bulacan was recognized 2nd place for the municipal category.

Along with Bulacan, Dinagat Island was the recipient of the 2nd place for provincial Best Performing LGU while province of Kalinga secured 3rd spot.
According to PCEDO head Cynthia Abiol, the National Gawad Parangal observed different criteria to recognize provinces and cooperatives with excellent performance in programs, budget, accomplishments, management and assistance, advocacy, partnership, community participation, trainings, financial assistance, and accumulated awards.

In line with this, PCEDO Project Development Officer III Jeremias Caguingin said that the award is a proof that Bulacan, being known as the cooperative capital of the Philippines, continues with its legacy on exemplar enterprising and management.

“The award is another milestone for Bulacan to claim the cooperative capital of the Philippines title. The recognition serves as inspiration for us to work even harder, innovate and implement more developmental programs for cooperatives thereby creating a healthy economy in the community and the countryside”, Caguingin said.

Bulacan has been known as a home of historical movements on cooperatives and recognized as one of the provinces with the greatest number of CDA accredited training providers and active cooperatives in the country.
