CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan spearheaded by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado honored 16 individuals and two group of youths who excelled in their respective fields that served as inspiration and led to empowering others to also live to be better citizens during the Gintong Kabataan Awards (GKA) 2018 at the Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city recently.

Gov. Alvarado said that the province of Bulacan is fortunate for being home to treasured youths like Gen. Gregorio del Pilar and Marcelo H. del Pilar among others that despite being young have been source of hope to many and he is proud that youths even in this generation is continuing this legacy.

In Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara’s speech being the guest speaker delivered by his representative Miguel Alfonso Lima from the legislative office of the senator, he expounded the true meaning of being excellent.

“I think we will all agree that someone is excellent when they are at the top, first, leader, but I also think that we have deep misconceptions about this. Sometimes we think excellence stems from talent, we forget that it’s about hard work, that it is about the absence of failure, but in fact those who have failed are the ones most likely to succeed because they are fearless enough to bear failing and to be resilient to get back up again,” Angara said.

He also added that excellence is not a lonely pursuit but is better achieved with help from others, that excellence is not reaching a given standard but beating his own, and that excellence is a way of life, an attitude, a habit that one starts and maintains while encouraging everyone to continue to find motivation and courage to pursue excellence.
