Bulacan extends BMC, will honor blood galloners
CITY OF MALOLOS – The Bulacan Medical Center formerly known as the Bulacan Provincial Hospital is having another extension to sufficiently serve the growing population in the province.
On August 16, 2018 at 9 am, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Department of Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque will lead the ground breaking ceremony of the 200-bed capacity extension of the BMC.
At present, the newly-renovated BMC, completed and with modern 22-bed capacity Intensive Care Unit and centralized nurse workstation begun serving Bulakenyos with critical medical conditions this year.
It also has Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) or ‘3D eye scan’; 40 hemodialysis machines; 2 units of CT Scan; 2D Echo; Ultrasound; ENT and X-ray machines; Oncology Unit for cancer patients; Endoscopy Unit for patients with stomach problems; Luntiang Silong for HIV-positive patients; Programmatic Management Drug-resistant Tuberculosis Satellite Treatment Center (PMDT STC) for patients with TB; Dental Clinic; Pharmacy; Laboratory; Animal Bite Center; Pediatrics; Out-Patient Department; OB-Gyne; and Bulacan Provincial Blood Center.
“Pinipilit nating magkaroon ng kumbinyenteng karanasan ang ating mga kababayan na nagpapatingin at nagpapagamot sa ating mga pagamutan, higit sa lahat patuloy tayong nagdadagdag ng mga pasilidad at kagamitan para sumapat din sa pangangailangan natin dahil hindi tayo kumakaunti, ang mga Bulakenyo ay paparami,” Alvarado explained.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Bulacan Blood Council will return the favor to voluntary blood donors and partners by recognizing their contribution in ensuring sustainable and accessible quality blood for all at all times.
At 10 am on the same day, the Blood Council will recognize individuals with four or more blood donations, facilities and municipalities with the highest blood collection, Blood Galloners and Bronze Awardees.
The program is the culminating activity of the observance of the National Blood Donor’s Month, which aims to build public awareness regarding the need for quality and safe blood, honor and recognize blood donors, and encourage regular blood donation both at hospital and community level.
According to the reports from the Provincial Health Office-Public Health, the Department of Health ordered all commercial blood banks to stop selling bloods and for the government blood banks to secure all bloods used by patients for blood transfusion and survival and encourages conduct of mobile blood donation activities in all LGUs to address the need for blood in government and private hospitals in the province.
Collected blood undergoes quality blood processing-testing and screening.
