Bulacan honors exceptional barangays and its officials in 19th Gawad Galing Barangay

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through its Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) recognized the outstanding services and works of barangay officials and their projects through the 19th Gawad Galing Barangay 2019 held at The Pavilion in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here this afternoon.

Almost 800 barangay officials attended the program in support to their respective barangays.

Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process and the awards guest of honor, likened the barangay officials to the durability of a bolo knife.

“Ang ating mga barangay captains at officials ay maihahalintulad natin sa isang itak. You are the cutting edge of a knife; a cutting edge of a weapon. Ang ating mga governor at mayor ay ang taga kumpas, ngunit kayong mga nasa barangay po talaga ang tumatalima. Kayo ang sumasalo, kayo ang nagtatanggol bilang front liner ng komunidad,” Galvez said.

Meanwhile, five individuals received plaques of recognition and a cash prize worth P20,000 each for being the Most Outstanding Volunteer Workers namely Myrna R. Castro, a Lingkod Lingap Sa Nayon member from Brgy. Malawak, Bustos; Marita C. Competente, a Mother Leader from Brgy. Pinagbarilan, Baliwag; Jessie SD. Fabon, a Barangay Health Worker from Brgy. Sulucan, Bocaue; Juzarah C. Concepcion, a Barangay Training and Employment Coordinator from Brgy. Tanawan, Bustos and Edwin V. Lopez, a barangay tanod from Lumang Bayan, Plaridel while Buklod Lingap Foundation of Bulacan, Inc. from Brgy. Sta. Barbara, Baliwag was recognized as the Most Outstanding Volunteer Group receiving a plaque of recognition and cash prize worth P50,000.

Also, five barangays received plaques of recognition and cash prizes worth P200,000 each for having the Most Effective and Creative Implementation of Barangay Works and Programs that include Brgy. Tarcan, Baliwag for “Tara Na Tarcan Tungo sa Malinis na Kapaligiran”; Brgy. Poblacion, Pulilan for “Katiwasayan at Kaayusan, Kalikasan at Kapaligiran”; Brgy. Basuit, San Ildefonso for “Luntiang Kapaligiran Para sa Malusog na Pamayanan: Bio Intensive Organic Gardening” and Brgy. Caingin in City of Malolos and Brgy. Tibig, Bulakan for their slogan “Mabuting Pamamahala.”

Further, Brgy. Chairman Ryan P. Espiritu from Brgy. Poblacion, Pulilan was hailed as the Most Outstanding ‘Lingkod Barangay’ who received a plaque of recognition and cash prize worth P50,000 along with Manolito M. Arrojo, a barangay kagawad from Brgy. Paco, Obando and Kristine M. Malubay, barangay secretary from Brgy. Banga 1st, Plaridel who both received plaques of recognition and cash prize worth P20,000 each.

According to Espiritu, the cooperation and support of his fellow barangay officials and volunteers are crucial in the successful implementation of programs in their community.

“Ito ay bunga ng pakikiisa ng aking mga kabarangay doon sa mga makabuluhan at napapanahong programa. Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa aking mga volunteer workers at sangguniang barangay; hindi ko po ito kaya mag-isa na parang walis, kung hindi bibigkisin ay hindi makalilinis,” Espiritu said.

Governor Daniel R. Fernando also reminded the barangay officials of their important roles in the community and expressed his gratitude for their exceptional leadership.

“Salamat po sa lahat ng inyong mabuting gawain sa ating mga kabarangay. Kayo ang mga lingkod na abot-kamay ng ating mga kababayan. Kayo po ang unang hanay ng dipensa sa ano mang panganib, ang unang takbuhan ng mga nangangailangan. Hindi po matatawaran nino man ang inyong gampanin para sa kabutihan ng ating pamayanan,” the governor said.

GGB is under the Bulacan Awards Program for Barangay Innovation and Excellence, which is implemented in accordance with Provincial Law No. 03 s. 2006 and amended by Provincial Law No. 59 s. 2010.
