CITY OF MALOLOS – In his message, Gov. Daniel R. Fernando emphasized the four principles of cooperativism during the opening of Buwan ng Kooperatiba at Pangangalakal 2019 celebration at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here, Tuesday morning.

With the theme “Damayang Filipino at Kooperatibismo: Kulturang Bulakenyo Tungo sa Progreso”, Fernando said that included in these principles are the principle of helping themselves, the principle of being open, voluntary and personal and the principle of being responsible to the society and implementing social justice.

He said that the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ in the community, wherein its members are the true beneficiaries of the service and income of the cooperatives, should be without discrimination.

The governor added that cooperatives differ with private corporations in terms of showing concern to the community.

“Sa kilusang ito, and pagtulong sa kapwa ay isang obligasyong moral at katarungang panlipunan ay ang lahat na pinagbabatayan ng mga prinsipyo ng kilusang kooperatiba gaya ng iniatas ng Saligang Batas ng Republika ng Pilipinas,” Fernando said.
He also pointed out that hardwork and loyalty are innate traits of Bulakenyos and he believes that it will live on.

“Ang maunlad, maayos at makatarungang lipunan sa ating lalawigan ay naitatag sa lakad ng kilusang kooperatiba,” the governor said.

He also congratulated the people behind the cooperative movement in Bulacan for their successful efforts in making Bulacan the
“Cooperative Capital of the Philippines” in Asia.

More than 3,000 Bulacan coop councils and members attended the said event.

Regional Director Marietta Hwang of the Cooperative Development Authority also graced the occasion who gave the message and received certificate of appreciation.
