Bulacan all set for Rescue M.A.R.C.H. Challenge

CITY OF MALOLOS- The Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando is ready for the Rescue M.A.R.C.H. (Mass Assembly for Rescue and Care for Humanity) Bulacan Challenge set this coming Saturday, March 23, 2019.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that the 12.5 km route will start with calisthenics warm up exercises at 4 am at JED’s Island Resort in Brgy. Gatbuca, Calumpit followed by travelling by foot to Barasoain Church and ends at the Mini Forest, Capitol Compound in this city.

More or less 40 rescue teams, each with a seven man-squad from the national and local governments and various organizations from private sectors, will participate dressed in their respective uniforms with personal protective equipment and rigged with backpacks that contains some life-saving gadgets.

Provincial DRRM Officer Felicisima Mungcal said that aside from continuous increase of public’s level of awareness on disaster and emergency preparedness for effective response, the said simulation aims to familiarize, build camaraderie and share each participants knowledge and skills about the highly technical capability building activities.

Alvarado encourages each rescue team in the province to register online and participate in the activity because it is one way to know and assess if they are mentally, psychologically and physically fit in emergency response.

“Mahalagang gawain ito sapagkat dito masusubok ang ating mga responder gayundin tayong mga Bulakenyo kung tayo ay handa na at may sapat ng kaalaman sa kung ano ang mga dapat gawin sa oras ng sakuna at kung paano maghahanda upang maiwasan ang mas malaking pinsala. Gayundin, higit nitong mapatitibay ang samahan at koordinasyon ng iba’t ibang rescue team,” the governor said.

Civil Defense Regional Director III Marlou Salazar is expected to grace the first ever Rescue M.A.R.C.H. Challenge in Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, in line with the observance of the Fire Prevention Month, the Bulacan Rescue will conduct the Bomb Threat/Explosion and Fire Drill in the Capitol tomorrow, March 21 at 9 am.
