Fernando gives updates on COVID-19 status in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS- Co-hosting in Rektang Konek: Aksyon Agad, a public service program on UNTV 37, Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando gave updates on the status of COVID-19 cases in Bulacan as well as the plans and programs of the province in addressing the pandemic held at The Pavilion in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city today.

According to Fernando, when the cases of COVID-19 ballooned all over the world and President Rodrigo Duterte has placed the country under enhanced community quarantine, the province acted quickly and entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Red Cross and acquired 1,428 swab test kits to be used for suspected cases and frontliners.

He also added that returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) will be housed at the quarantine facility in We Heal as One Center located at the Philippine Arena Complex in Bocaue, Bulacan which is manned by medical personnel from the Philippine National Police along with the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s staff and another quarantine facility for OFWs in College of Social Science and Philosophy Building inside Bulacan State University-Main Campus.

Moreover, the province has also designated a Bulacan Infection Control Center in Bulacan Medical Center and is open to the public.

“Gusto ko po ay may equal focus din sa ibang pangangailangang pangkalusugan ng mga Bulakenyo, hindi natin ito pinabayaan at magkasabay na isinaayos. Mayroon din tayong quarantine facilities at mga quarantine center sa bawat bayan sa lalawigan,” Fernando added.

The governor also announced that on June 12, 2020, Bulacan’s own Molecular Laboratory in BMC will be opened to help fasten the testing and reduce backlogs.

With all its efforts in controlling the spread of the said disease, Fernando reported 232 confirmed cases with 96 recoveries and 31 recorded deaths as of June 7, 2020.

The governor also updated his co-hosts PBGen. Rhodel Sermonia, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 3 and Presidential Task Force on Media Usec. Joel Sy-Egco that the PGB has distributed more than 1 million food packs to every households; 4Ps and UCT or Listahanan beneficiaries; 50 cavans of rice to each town in Bulacan and five cavans of rice to 569 Barangays.
