Bulacan opens new BMC Outpatient Department building

CITY OF MALOLOS – More Bulakenyos will be able to avail medical services as the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Daniel R. Fernando inaugurated the new Outpatient Department of the Bulacan Medical Center in a program held at the new OPD building located at the Bulacan Medical Center Compound, Brgy. Guinhawa here this morning.

The two-storey building was funded by the Department of Health under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (DOH-HFEP) with an estimated amount of P49 million, for an area of 684 square meters on the ground floor and 612 square meters on the second floor.

Provincial Health Officer II Dra. Hjordis Marushka Celis said the new outpatient department is open on weekdays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM which can accommodate 300 to 400 patients per day and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN to offer services limited to internal medicine and removal of sutures.

Each facility at the OPD will be managed by the section and department heads of the BMC including Family Planning, OB-Gyne, Surgery Department, Treatment/Excision, Laboratory, X-Ray Room, Medical Department, Psyche/EENT, IPCC/HESU, Animal Bite Training Center, Dental Clinic, Pedia/Under 5 Clinic, Sub-Specialty Area, Pediatric Department.

In his message, Fernando expressed his gratitude to the DOH for granting the province with a new medical building.

“Mayroon na naman tayong gusali na ipinagkaloob sa atin ng Diyos upang tayo ay makapagbigay ng serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan, lalo’t higit ‘yung mga mahihirap na tao na walang sapat na pera at sa atin lumalapit para humingi ng tulong,” the governor said.

He also strictly reminded the staff to perform their duties with integrity and to serve the Bulakenyos in need with care and understanding.

Fernando also announced that the former outpatient department at the BMC will soon be the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and also led its groundbreaking ceremony during the program.
