4,213 Bulakenyo youth receive scholarship from PGB

CITY OF MALOLOS- A total of 4,213 Bulakenyo from all the campuses of Bulacan Polytechnic College and 33 other private colleges and universities received their scholarship from the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel R. Fernando during the two-day Scholar’s General Assembly held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium last March 19 and today, March 22, 2019.
One thousand seven hundred five students from the eight campuses of BPC including Malolos Main, Bocaue, Obando, Angat, Pandi, San Rafael, City of San Jose del Monte and San Miguel received their ‘Katibayan ng Pagiging Iskolar’; while the other 2,508 students from 33 different schools inside and outside the province took home cheques amounting to P3,000 each.

On the first day of the assembly that was graced by former Pangasinan Congresswoman Gina Perez-de Venecia, Alvarado announced the good news that aside from the free tuition on BPC campuses, half of the miscellaneous fee of the students will be shouldered by the PGB.

“We want to produce skilled and knowledgeable labor force that will be ready to face the challenges of economic development and be able to sustain economic growth that is why we included your education in our seven-point agenda,” the governor said.

For his part, Fernando advised the students to finish their studies and value the sacrifices of their parents just to send them to school.

“Walang magulang na naghangad ng masama para sa kanilang mga anak. Kaya naman sikapin ninyo na mapagtagumpayan ang inyong pag-aaral dahil hindi katulad ng materyal na bagay na nawawala at nauubos, hindi mananakaw ang ating edukasyon sa atin,” Fernando said.

Meanwhile, Joshua Pascual, Hotel and Restaurant Services student of BPC Malolos, thanked the PGB for providing educational assistance to students like him who really wants to pursue their studies.

“Malaking tulong po ito sa akin dahil malaking kabawasan po ito sa pang-araw-araw na gastusin ng pamilya namin,” Pascual said.

From 2010 to 2017, the PGB had awarded 98,503 Bulakenyo students of educational assistance through the “Tulong Pang-edukasyon para sa Kabataang Bulakenyo” program.
