23rd Gawad Medalyang Ginto to honor exceptional Bulakenyas

CITY OF MALOLOS – Exceptional Bulakenyas will be awarded by the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Panlalawigang Komisyon para sa Kababaihan ng Bulacan (PKKB) in the upcoming 23rd Gawad Medalyang Ginto on March 16 at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.

In line with the celebration of the National Women’s Month, the activity which is anchored on the theme “Tara Na! Sama Ka sa Pagbabago”, aims to commend and value outstanding women in different fields, to inspire other women to strive harder in their chosen field and to be an advocate to a gender-sensitive province that values women as part of growth and progress.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the awards program is set to recognize Bulakenyas in two categories: the Medalyang Ginto category and the sectoral category.

The Medalyang Ginto category includes the awards for the Natatanging Babae and Natatanging Samahang Pangkababaihan while the sectoral category will honor the Matagumpay na Ginang na OFW, Matagumpay na Babaeng Mangangalakal, Matagumpay na Babaeng Makakalikasan, Matagumpay na Konsehong Pambayan/Panglungsod Para sa Kababaihan (KPK), and Huwarang Kabataang Babae sa Pamumuno.

Winners in the Medalyang Ginto category will receive a medal, a trophy and cash incentive amounting to P20,000 for the Natatanging Babae and P30,000 for the Natatanging Samahang Pangkababaihan while the awardees for the sectoral category will receive a trophy and cash incentive amounting to P20,000 for the Matagumpay na KPK and P10,000 each for the remaining sub-categories.

The PGB has been recognizing exemplary Bulakenyas through the Gawad Medalyang Ginto since 1996 in accordance with Executive Order No. 96-07: “Kautusang Nagtatakda ng Araw ng Kababaihan at Paggawad ng Medalyang Ginto sa Natatanging Kababaihan ng Bulacan” and Board Resolution No. 215 which declares the second Monday of March as Provincial Women’s Day.

According to the PKKB, the said program will be graced by Department of Health Secretary Dr. Paulyn Jean B. Rosell Ubial.

Also part of the Women’s Month Celebration is the Philippine Cancer Society Check-up on March 27, 10am-12nn at the Balagtas Hall in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center which will provide acetic acid wash and clinical breast exam for employees and the Women with Disability Day on March 28 at the Philippine Arena in Ciudad De Victoria, Santa Maria, Bulacan.
