To avoid spreading of viral diseases
Bulacan’s 569 barangays to conduct simultaneous cleanup drive

CITY OF MALOLOS- In a bid to avoid the spreading of viral diseases including Dengue, African Swine Fever and Polio, the Provincial Government of Bulacan in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) Philippines is set to conduct a simultaneous cleanup drive in all 569 barangays in Bulacan on Saturday, September 28, 2019.

Clean environment, as one of the priorities in “People’s Agenda 10”, is a top priority of the PGB that is why Governor Daniel R. Fernando encourages every Bulakenyo, especially government employees, to participate in the cleanup drive and do their part in helping, protecting and saving the environment.

“Ang solusyon sa mga kinakaharap nating pagsubok sa panahong ito ay nasa ating mga kamay. Tayo mismo ang may kapangyarihan na gumawa ng aksyon para luminis ang ating kapaligiran na tayo, ang ating pamilya, at ang ating mga alagang hayop rin naman ang makikinabang,” the governor said.

Prior to this, Bulacan has been actively participating in different cleanup drives including the “Battle for Manila Bay” held last January of this year, which is an advocacy of the national government through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to rehabilitate the Manila Bay.

The said simultaneous cleanup drive is a product of the five-day Barangay Summit held at the Balagtas Hall in Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center last September 16, 17, 18, 20 and 24, 2019 with barangay captains of all the barangays in Bulacan.

It is also in support to the International Coastal Clean-up Day in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 470, s. 2003; DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2017-118 or the “Observance of the Annual International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) Day”; and DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-09 or the “Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project”.
