Thousands of Bulakenyos to witness lighting of giant Christmas tree

CITY OF MALOLOS – Not only the Capitol park will be filled with Christmas vibe but also the hearts of thousands of Bulakenyos as they witness the lighting of the 50-foot giant Singkaban Christmas tree on December 9, 2015 at 5:00 in the afternoon, which signifies the start of Paskong Bulakenyo in the province.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said the annual Christmas tree lighting aims to put Christmas closer to the hearts of Bulakenyos and to encourage them to celebrate Christmas season with love, joy, peacefulness and forgiveness, which is the true essence of the celebration.

“Magandang alalahanin din ang pinakamagandang mensahe ng Pasko na dapat gunitain at ipagdiwang, ang pagsilang ng Tagapagligtas ng sanlibutan. Ang pagdiriwang ng Pasko ay mahalaga sa bawat Pilipino dahil ito ang panahon ng pagbibigayan at pagmamahalan at huwag tayong makakalimot na magpasalamat sa Poong Maykapal,” the governor said.

The giant christmas tree is made of intricate Singkaban bamboo arcs embellished with LED lights and ornaments like flowers, lanterns and buntings.

Prior to this, the first part of the program will showcase the talents of Himig Bulakenyo and Hiyas ng Bulacan Brass Band as they entertain everyone with their soulful rendition of Christmas carols.

Among the expected guests to take part in the celebration includes the local chief executives from the towns and cities of the province, non-government organizations, students, employees of the Capitol and tourism officers from various cities and provinces all over the Philippines.
