Singkaban 2021 to showcase dancing and singing talents of Bulakenyo families

CITY OF MALOLOS – Bulakenyos will now have the chance to showcase their dancing and singing flairs as a family through a virtual competition entitled ‘Indakan at Awitan sa Tahanan’ by the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) through Bulacan Arts and Culture Facebook page this coming September 15, 2021 as part of the celebration of Singkaban Festival 2021.

According to PHACTO Head Dr. Eliseo S. Dela Cruz, the competition is open to all Bulakenyo families with three to eight members for the dance category and two to six members for the singing category.

The dance performance can be hip hop, modern dance, popular dance, jazz, contemporary, folk dance or combination which should be at least 3 to 5 minutes long wherein participants must depict good manners, unity, history, arts, culture and tradition of Bulacan while using OPM music together with the Bulacan Tourism theme song.

On the other hand, those who will join the singing category must perform OPM music of known Bulakenyo composers and musicians.

Professional singers who already have recording contracts or who have won in national and international competitions are no longer allowed to join the competition.

Meanwhile, Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando emphasized the importance of having competitions that involves family members because it symbolizes unity and teamwork and at the same time creating a strong bond among them.

“Sa panahon ngayon na tayo ay humaharap sa matinding hamon ng pandemya, nasusubok ang ating pagkakaiisa at tatag bilang mga Bulakenyo; pagkakaiisa na nagsisimula sa ating mga tahanan, sa ating pamilya. Sinisimbolo nito na ano man ang pagsubok o hamon ang harapin natin sa buhay, nandiyan ang ating mga pamilya na handa tayong gabayan at tulungan sa lahat ng oras,” the governor said.
