CITY OF MALOLOS- Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa, together with thousands of Bulakenyos, is set to commemorate the 121st Anniversary of the Inauguration of the First Philippine Republic on January 23, 2020, 8 am at the historic grounds of Barasoain Church in this city.
Anchored on the theme “Unang Republikang Filipina: Pundasyon sa Pagpapatatag ng Bansa” the program will kick off through a flag raising ceremony, oath to the national flag and wreath laying activity at the monument of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, the first president of the first republic.
Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando calls on all the Filipinos especially the youth to continue to relive the legacy of the first republic, which the forefathers determinedly fought to achieve the freedom of the country.
“Ang Pilipinas ay para sa mga Pilipino. Iyan ang nais iparating ng ating mga bayani na nagbuwis ng kanilang buhay para sa ating bayan. Kaya naman, ang kailangan nating gawin sa panahong ito ay ang mahalin ang ating bansa, pagtangkilik sa sariling atin at ang pagtulong sa kapwa natin Pilipinong nangangailangan,” Fernando said.
Aside from Dela Rosa and Fernando, other local officials, students and teachers, government employees, veterans, volunteer workers and non-government organizations are expected to attend the said event.
Last year, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed into law Republic Act No. 11443 or “An act declaring January 23 of every year as a special working holiday in the province of Bulacan in commemoration of the inauguration of the Philippine Republic”.
However, Proclamation No. 881 gave Bulakenyos the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion by declaring Thursday, 23 January 2020, a special (non-working) day in the Province of Bulacan.###
