CITY OF MALOLOS – The most anticipated festival in Bulacan will once again showcase the diverse culture and best of the arts of the province as the Provincial Government of Bulacan with the presence of Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel is set to open the weeklong celebration of Singkaban Festival 2016 on September 8, at 7:00 a.m in front of the Provincial Capitol building in this city.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said this year’s celebration is anchored on the theme, “Singkaban Festival 2016: Lalawigan ay Ikarangal, Kasaysayan, Sining at Kultura ay Itanghal Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, that will higlight the cultural legacies of the province as the home of talents, artistry and uniqueness in preserving its history.
“Despite of the continuous modernization and development of our province, we are still able to preserve our rich culture and artistry. Through the celebration of Singkaban Festival, we will showcase the excellence of the Bulakenyos in different endeavors that we are truly proud of,” the governor said.
More than 3,000 Bulakenyos are expected to participate in the celebration that will begin with a thanksgiving mass and will be followed by the “Parada ng Karosa at Kasaysayan”, a parade of government and corporate floats that features the traditional arts of Bulacan with a touch of modern technology and a street play of the history of the province.
Different cultural exhibits including the Dakilang Bulakenyo Exhibit, Bulacañana Exhibit and Book Fair and Lakan Sining Exhibit will also be launched that will showcase the life and contributions of Heneral Isidoro Torres and other revolutionary heroes who fought for national independence.
The governor also said that they will open different trade fairs including the Agri-Tourism and Tamis Stevia Fiesta, Tianggian sa Kapitolyo and Tatak Singkaban ng Central Luzon that will display the best products and delicacies of Bulacan and other provinces in the region that will surely attract thousands of local and foreign tourists.
Thousands of participants also await the Bulacan Food Festival Exposition (BUFFEX) that will offer food sampling and on-the-spot cooking demo and competitions.
The governor also said that there are a lot of other activities that will provide fun and enjoyment to the Bulakenyos including concerts and performances of Parokya ni Edgar, Jose Marie Chan and the Bulacan Bass Brand as well as the competition of talents such as the Indakan sa Kalye and KBS Rewaynd.
“We are proud of our cultural inheritance that reflects who we are as Bulakenyos. There are lots of activities for our celebration that includes cultural presentations and art exhibits that you will surely enjoy, so we are inviting everyone to witness and join us in celebrating Singkaban Festival,” said Alvarado.
