CITY OF MALOLOS – Regarded as one of the top musical ensembles in the Asia-Pacific Region, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) will stage a free live concert on August 29, 2018, 4 pm at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here.
Dubbed as ‘Philippine Philharmonic Outreach Concert in Malolos, Bulacan’, it will feature 40 musicians under the baton of Herminigildo Ranera, a Filipino conductor, composer, arranger, performer and educator.
According to the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office, the event’s organizer, the PPO will premier Filipino compositions and feature works by foreign composers such as Overture to William Tell (Gioachino Rossini), Hungarian Dances Numbers 1,3 & 5 (Johannes Brahms), Dalagang Pilipina (Arranger Ryan Cayabyab), Ano Kaya ang Kapalaran (Francisco Santiago), and Mutya ng Pasig (Nicanor Abelardo) among others.
The country’s leading orchestra was established on May 15, 1973 and a resident company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
Further, Bulakenyo Artist Trixie Dayrit, a coloratura soprano from Santa Maria, will be their guest singer.
Expected to grace the said event as the guest of honor and speaker is the President of CCP, Mr. Arsenio Lizaso.
Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado invites all the Bulakenyos to witness and listen to the symphonic orchestral music of PPO and be cognizant of its advocacy in promoting their brand of music through outreach concerts.
“World class music and talent po ang hatid ng Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra kaya naman suportahan po natin sila at tangkilikin. Mapalad po tayo at binigyan tayo ng pagkakataon na mapakinggan ng libre ang kanilang musika na tunay na kinikilala hindi lamang sa bansa kundi maging sa ibang panig ng mundo,” Alvarado said.
The said free concert is made possible through the efforts of the Provincial Government of Bulacan through PHACTO and CCP as part of the month-long celebration of Singkaban Festival 2018 with the theme, “ Pamanang Kalinangan ng Nakaraan, Gabay sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan”.
