CITY OF MALOLOS- The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando is set to receive an accumulated amount of more or less P100,000 from the Bulacan Solar Energy Corporation as the province’s share from their total electricity sales since 2016 after the two signed a Memorandum of Agreement in accordance to the Energy Regulations No. 1-94.
E.R. No. 1-94 is a program of the Department of Energy intended to recompense for the contribution made by the communities hosting energy resources and/or energy generating facilities.
It is in the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Section 5 (i) of Republic Act No. 7638 or the’“DOE Act of 1992 – which states that the department shall ‘“devise ways and means of giving direct benefits to the province, city, or municipality, especially the community and people affected, and equitable preferential benefit to the region that hosts the energy resource or energy generating facility”
Due to recent amendments to the regulation, the local government unit’s share will be now remitted directly to the LGU unlike before when it is first consolidated to the DOE before distributing to the host province, city or municipality.
Meanwhile, the BSEC is a 15MW solar farm situated in San Ildefonso, Bulacan generating over 21,000,000 kW-hours of renewable electricity to the national power grid every year.
Fernando and Provincial Planning and Development Office Head Arlene Pascual represented the PGB while Atty. Jaime P. Del Rosario and Virgilio Lim represented the BSEC during the MOA signing held at the Official Residence in this city on Tuesday.###
