PGB recognizes outstanding, model Bulakenyos

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan is set to recognize a new batch of outstanding and ideal Bulakenyos through Gawad Dangal ng Lipi to be held on September 15, 2015 at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

As one of the highlights on the upcoming celebration of Singkaban Festival 2015, DNL continues to look for modern day heroes from Bulacan who excel in their chosen fields.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that these people are considered gems because of their invaluable contribution to achieve a progressive province.

“Those individual continuously augment the province’s sense of pride at present, that is why it is just right to bestow honor for their outstanding performance and contribution to the society,” Alvarado said.

According to Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), DNL secretariat, the nominees underwent a thorough screening process for the following categories: public service, professional, community service, entrepreneur, education, Science and technology, arts and culture, trade and industry, health, agriculture, sports, Bulakenyo Expatriate and Tanging Bulakenyo.

Meanwhile, the Tanging Bulakenyo, the highest award to be given to a Bulakenyo by the PGB, will be awarded to a nominee who excels in any of the awards categories stated above and with an outstanding contribution to the society.

DNL awardees will receive medals and trophy of recognition.

Previous DNL winners were DFA Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario who was recognized last year as Tanging Dangal, DILG Secretary Manuel “Mar” also a Tanging Dangal awardee in 2013, Maria Susana “Toots” V. Ople, Vincent “Chot” P. Reyes, the late and former President Corazon Aquino, the late Sec. Blas Ople, executive secretaries Alberto Romulo and Paquito Ochoa, Jr, journalists Arnold Clavio and Cheche Lazaro, and entertainers Joey de Leon, Richard Gomez, Dolphy, and Regine Velasquez.

The selection and conferment of the outstanding Bulakenyo started in 1974, known as the Natatanging Bulakenyo Award.
