PGB recognizes outstanding coops

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) has recognized the top performing cooperatives in the province during its Gawad Galing Kooperatiba 2015 awarding ceremony held recently at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city.
This year’s winning rosters for Outstanding Cooperative Award are Umpucan Palay and Vegetable Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative from San Ildefonso, Mahal na Senor Multipurpose Cooperative from Marilao and Sto. Nino de Parada Multipurpose Cooperative from Santa Maria.
The Kapit Bisig sa Pag-unlad Multipurpose Cooperative from Pandi received the Hall of Fame Award for its cooperative advancement and development in their areas of operation that continues to motivate other cooperatives to strive for better.
Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado congratulated the winners and even said that the province of Bulacan has sustained its status characterized by excellent leadership and achievements in the management of its cooperatives.
“Dito sa Bulacan, na itinuturing na cooperative capital of the Philippines, kasiyahan natin na patuloy na nananatiling masigla ang kalakalan na ating nararanasan, sapagkat 99% ng mga negosyo sa lalawigan ay itinuturing na micro, small at medium enterprises. At karamihan sa mga micro enterprises ay mula sa tulong ng mga kooperatiba. Sa pamamagitan ng mga kooperatiba ay naitataguyod natin ang entrepreneurship na siyang nagpapalakas sa ating ekonomiya,” the governor said.
Moreover, Divine Mercy Shrine Multipurpose Cooperative from Marilao, Greater Bulacan Livelihood Development Cooperative from Baliwag, City Government Employees Multipurpose Cooperative from Meycauayan, Bagong Barrio Multipurpose Cooperative and Paschal Multipurpose Cooperative from Pandi, Responsible Entrepreneurs Savings and Credit Cooperative from Calumpit, DRT Mount Sinai Multipurpose Cooperative from Doña Remedios Trinidad, Samahang Kapatirang Kababaihan ng Pulilan Multipurpose Cooperative from Pulilan and San Andres Multipurpose Cooperative from Norzagaray were awarded Trailblazers in the Outstanding Cooperative.
The Kooperatiba ng Pangmalawakang Paglilingkod ng Bayabas from DRT, Bulacan and San Isidro-San Roque Credit Cooperative from Meycauayan City received the special citations given by the provincial government while the Malolos Cooperative Development Council bagged the first place as the Biggest Delegation during the awarding ceremony.
The winners took home cash prizes, trophies and certificates of recognition.
Meanwhile, Senator Teofisto “TG” D. Guingona III graced the event as guest speaker and even commended the efforts of the provincial government in supporting the primary cooperatives, federations and unions in the province.
“Mahalaga sa lalawigan ng Bulacan ang kalayaan, alam nila na para maging malaya ang ating bayan ay kailangang maging organisado at may pagkakaisa, at hindi ako nagtataka na ang Bulacan ay ang bayan na may pinakarami at pinakamatagumpay na kooperatiba sa buong bansa,” the senator ended.
