PGB implements disaster resilience campaign towards raising public awareness

CITY OF MALOLOS – To also focus on disaster resilience apart from disaster preparedness, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) implements disaster resilience campaign towards raising public awareness on the importance of disaster risk reduction and management.

As part of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2022 with the theme “Sambayanang Pilipino, Nagkakaisa tungo sa Katatagan at Maunlad na Kinabukasan.” the activities serve as a call to action to the national government agencies (NGAs) and local government units (LGUs).

According to PDRRMO Head Felicisima Mungcal, the activities included in the campaign are distribution of various IEC materials such as handbooks on COVID-19 Pandemic including Mga Gabay Upang Proteksyunan ang Sarili, Pamilya at Pamayanan; Mga Payong Pangkaligtasan sa Panahon ng Kalamidad; Mga Payong Pangkaligtasan sa Pag-iwas at Pag-iingat sa Sunog; Bulacan 911 posters and stickers to Local DRRM Officers, PDRRMO Staff, City/Municipal DRRMOs, NGOs and volunteers.

Various trainings will also be conducted within the month of July including Basic First Aid Training for Municipal Employees of Pandi Municipal Hall from July 7-8 and July 12-15 and First Aid at Work Training for the staff/lifeguards of Bulacan private pools on July 11-12 at the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium here.

Further, the PDRRMO will also conduct Distribution of Prototype Rain Gauge to 37 SHINe School beneficiaries; Distribution of COVID-19 Handbook to Cities/Municipalities and to the Department of Education (DepEd) and Mass Graduation of Batches 1 to 3 for Crashed Vehicle Emergency Rescue Training (CVERT) Course on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here.

An Integrated Planning Course on Incident Command System (ICS Level 2) on July 19-22 and Standard First Aid Training (SFAT) for New DRRMO Employees on July 26-29 will also be held on KLIR Waterpark Resort, which will be attended by employees from the different departments of the PGB (PDRRMC Member Agencies), and PDDRMO Staff and City/Municipal DRRMOs employees.

As stated in Executive Order No. 29-2017 that was signed by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, National Disaster Awareness Month was changed to National Disaster Resilience Month to divert its purpose from ‘disaster awareness building’ to ‘disaster resilience’. ###
